Obama Loan Modification Program can help stop Foreclosures

The fall in the cure of the Bank of new U.S. plans to help homeowners under water and behind on mortgage payments, the Obama Administration is trying to rebuild their problems 75 billion U.S. dollars plan to avoid foreclosures.

The aim was to help 3000000-4000000 homeowners avoid foreclosure, but so far the program has only helped 170,000 homeowners who applied for 1.1 million. Modification Program Affordable Housing (HAMP) has been administered by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and was created to help with loan modifications.

Home values continue to decline and many homeowners owe more on their house than it is worth. In addition to the decrease in the values of many homeowners are now unemployed.

“The changes in the program will extend the flexibility of services and mortgage originators to help more unemployed owners and to help more people owe more on their mortgage than their home is worth,” the agency said in a statement.

Homeowners out of work can get a break of three to six months in their mortgage payments. There will be financial incentives for banks to work with borrowers who are underwater. FHA-refinanced loans, have also become new.

Even if the owner is unemployed can get help. Homeowners out of work will not have to spend more than 31 percent of their monthly income on mortgages for six months.

The new program is not yet available, but will be available in a couple of months.
